Privacy & Biometric Data Policy

Last updated: May 17, 2026. This policy explains what happens to the photograph you upload, what we keep (nothing), and the rights you hold under U.S. state laws.

Biometric Data (Hand Photos)

When you upload a photograph of your hand, that image is processed only in volatile memory (RAM) on our serverless function for the few seconds required to generate your reading.

  • No disk persistence. The image is never written to a hard drive, database, object storage, or log file.
  • Destroyed immediately. As soon as the reading text is produced, the image is discarded from memory. It cannot be retrieved afterward — including by us.
  • Never shared. We do not transmit your hand photo to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
  • Never used to train AI models. Your image is not added to any dataset and is not used to improve any model.
  • Email copy only. After your purchase, a low- resolution copy may be embedded in the email containing your manuscript, sent solely to you. That email is the only place a copy exists, and only because you received it.

What We Do Retain

For order fulfillment and accounting, we retain: your email address, first name (if provided), the generated reading text, plan, and transaction reference. We do not retain the underlying photograph.

CCPA Compliance (California)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) grants you the following rights:

  • Right to know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, email us (see Contact below).

BIPA Compliance (Illinois)

The Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) grants Illinois residents specific rights regarding biometric identifiers. Although our use of your hand photograph is ephemeral and not stored as a biometric identifier or biometric information, we voluntarily honor the following:

  • We obtain your informed consent before processing your hand photograph (by your act of uploading it after reading this policy and our terms).
  • We disclose the purpose: generating a personalized palmistry reading for you.
  • We disclose the retention schedule: zero retention — the image is destroyed immediately after the reading is generated.
  • We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric information.

Children

Manuscrit is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly process data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
